ZAIA on ‘DEMONS'
ZAIA tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what’s something most people wouldn’t know about you? Your favorite music? Anything you feel that stands out to who you are as a person and artist.
Well...I'm Zaia. I'm from Atlanta. My left nipple is bigger than my right; a lot of people don't know that about me. I like hip hop both new school and old, rock and lofi chill type music. I don't feel like I'm too much of a character. I'm not the type to convey a specific type of person or concept. I'm just me. I'm a person who's grounded in my reality and I'm blessed to be able to write about it and express it uniquely.
After your EP ‘RESET’ in June of 2019, how’s the response been of your music?
The response has been great from those who've heard it. I went on tour off of that project, which is pretty exciting. There's been a lot of growth. There's been people who've heard the project and they've told me that it's helped them through some of their situations and that's a big win for me.
You have a new track coming out called ‘DEMONS’ on April 1st , what’s this song about?
Demons is about just running away from your problems that cause you to worry and not dealing with them up front. By not dealing with them up front, those thoughts eventually drive you crazy. It's conveyed through the scope of relationships
Does the song embody a part of you or events from your life? If so what parts and how have you been able to overcome the ‘DEMONS’?
Yes. Everything that I write comes from something I've seen, been a part of or heard about from people I consider my family. There's many ways shit happens in this world, but the way I usually get through it is making music and spending time with the people I love.
Who have you been working with to create new songs recently?
I usually write all of my own songs. For my new project, on the production side of things I worked with my homies Z Will aka BluMagic, Eric Ramey and J Hill who I work with very often. They're like my brothers.
Do you do majority of your own writing, or have you had help with some of your creations in the past?
I've been writing my own music since I've started making music. Writing is one of the main reasons I fell in love with music so I haven't had too much help as far as that goes, but I'm always up to writing a song with someone.
After the release of ‘DEMONS’ what else can your fans expect for your music? Another EP, Album or just some singles?
Expect a lot more great content. That includes visuals, videos, songs and shows once this whole quarantine thing is over.
